- There are 11,000,000 Armenians that live all over the world but only about 3,150,000 live in Armenia.
- The largest populations are in Russia, United States, France, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Argentina.
- Only one-fifth of the world's Armenian population lives in the former Soviet republic of Armenia, and their pre-World War I homeland until the 1920s once covered five or six times that of present-day Armenia, including the eastern regions of Turkey, northern part of Iran, southern part of Georgia, Nagorno-KarabakhNakhijevan regions of Azerbaijan.

Arnenias population
Armenia's population of 2.97 million is shrinking at an annual rate of 0.08 percent. More Armenians (around eight million) live outside of Armenia than inside. Since 1993, more than half a million people have left Armenia in search of jobs. Diaspora Armenians remain very involved in Armenian politics and society. Ethnic Armenians comprise 98 percent of Armenia's population. Minority groups include Kurds (1.3 percent), Russians (0.5), Yezidis, Assyrians, and Greeks. Most people (64 percent) live in urban areas; approximately one-third live in Yerevan.
